Barry Polzin
Stroll Marquette's waterfront and you'll witness the work of Barry Polzin. No other artist has shaped our city more than Barry. A graduate of Northern Michigan University and the University of Michigan, he has been a licensed architect since 1978 with hundreds of projects credited to his resume, including award-winning homes and commercial renovations.
A Marquette native, he's inspired by Lake Superior's beauty as well as Marquette's rich history. He also understands shore-line living so his designs take advantage of cutting-edge energy saving techniques and materials designed to last.
Bill Hetrick
The Upper Peninsula is home to some of the world's friendliest folks and once you meet Bill Hetrick, you'll agree he tops the list. Born in Newberry, Bill is a lifelong outdoorsman and along with his wide smile, his love for our woods and waters is contagious.
After graduating from Northern Michigan University, Bill stayed in Marquette and launched his insurance career at a firm started over a century ago by one of Marquette's prominent leaders, Sydney Adams. Today that company is the largest independent Insurance Agency in the U.P., thanks in large part to Bill's vision and work ethic.
Ron Thorley
Entrepreneurs drive progress and Ron Thorley heralds that spirit. Raised in down state Troy, he came to Northern Michigan University in 1973. While many NMU grads would stay in Marquette if they could find employment, Ron knew this had to be home, so he created his own job. In 1982 he built Superior Car Wash, adding Superior Fast Lube in 1993. Now his car wash and oil change operations spread from Harvey to Negaunee.
Drawn to Lake Superior, he lives and loves life at the waterline, and no matter what time of year, that's where you'll find him exploring.
Steve Pelto
Experience counts and when it comes to knowing real estate markets and trends, you won't find another broker in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with instincts to match Steve Pelto. Licensed as an agent at 18, he became Michigan's youngest broker at 21. After graduating from Michigan State University, he started Look Realty, one of the largest independent real estate firms in Marquette County. Now, over three decades later, Landing Development Group trusts his expertise and knowledge as Founders Landing's exclusive real estate company.
Steve and his wife Wendy are active in their church and community and have two daughters, Courtney and Meredith.
Joe Constance
Some people believe impossible is only an opinion. Joe Constance belongs to that group. A business owner since he was 24, this Marquette native not only has the vision for what can be, he backs it up with the energy and experience to make it happen. Joe's success at bringing life to vacant or abandoned properties set Founders Landing in motion in 2008. His ability to see potential extends to the partners he invited to join the Landing Development Group.
Joe and wife Ann were the first to own a condo in the Kawbawgam building. They agree, "The Landing is about living."
